What We Offer

What We Offer

San Francisco Legal Professionals Association (SFLPA) is one of nearly 40 chapters of Legal Secretaries, Incorporated (LSI), a California nonprofit mutual benefits organization. We were founded in 1936 and incorporated in 1962.

Our members are legal assistants, paralegals, legal secretaries, legal administrators, legal employment consultants, banking/trust department personnel, attorneys, court clerks, and court reporters.

Full membership is available to anyone with:

  • A minimum of one year’s experience working in a law office or engaged in work of a legal nature, including temporary and/or freelance work;
  • Permanent employment in the legal field at the time of application;
  • Attendance at one SFLPA sponsored function; or
  • Sponsorship by an active member.

Students, vendors and individuals with less than one year of legal work experience may become Associate Members.

We host meetings with featured speakers, events, fundraisers and get-togethers with neighboring LSI chapters. These are great opportunities for our members to network and meet legal professionals.

We post job openings before they are advertised to the general public.

Our members benefit from our many educational and professional development programs. Many of our programs include continuing education credits: MCLE for attorneys and paralegals, and CCLS credits for California Certified Legal Secretaries.

We regularly update our members about court announcements, legal news and other important information.

Full members automatically become members of LSI, with access to a wide range of benefits, including discounts, insurance plans, Costco and credit union memberships, and job listings.

LSI also arranges for legal specialization sections and statewide quarterly and annual conferences.

We help members prepare to sit for the California Certified Legal Secretaries CCLS examination, which is given twice a year.
